Bla Kondixin - Festival Ta' Satira

Bla Kondixin – Festival tas-Satira – evolved from the very popular Bla Kommixin, which used to be produced under the auspices of AZAD, a centre for political studies. As from 2006, Michael Fenech, who created the concept, co-wrote, produced and directed all editions of Bla Kommixin will be producing the new improved version under his own steam.

All the ingredients have remained the same. The writing team includes the foremost humorists on the island such as Hector Bruno, Ray Calleja and Malcolm Briffa who also perform their own material. Also taking part are Paul Portelli, fresh from his experience performing around Europe, Leigh-Anne Abela and her versatile impersonation of women we all know. Mario Snits Spiteri, who gave us the lovable Warden, makes a much-awaited return to the stage. Dominic Said also returns to live acting in this year’s edition, and the Zoo team (Sander, Daniel, Owen and Claire) will regale us with their zany irreverent humour – a festival of satire representing the best of local humour.

A popular feature of the festival are the satirical songs performed with verve by one of the most popular bands in Malta: Fakawi.

Over the years invited guests have included the most popular TV and Entertainment personalities including Eileen Montesin, Joe Chetcuti, David Casa, Hooligan, Philip Vella, Walter Micallef, Ali Bubaker, Minibugz, the late Frans Baldacchino (il-Budaj), Frank Zammit, Jesmond Triccas and Augusto Cardinale.
